Yesterday I decorated a shabby chic themed first birthday! Pearls, lace and all things frilly were necessary. When the client told me the color scheme she wanted to go with I got giddy, as I too am a lover of all things mint, pink, and let’s face it… adorable! I decided to do a fringe backdrop in gold, pink, and mint to tie in the frills. The custom shadow box on the right was a great addition to the table and doubled as a keepsake to hang on the birthday girl’s wall. I painted it gold, adding pictures of the birthday girl and filling it with lace, pearls, and decor related to her first birthday. The happy birthday banner matched the backdrop perfectly with tulle at each end to add a nice touch to the shabby chic theme. I decided to go simple with florals using shades of pink and white roses and baby’s breath. The cake was a stunning rose design in fuscia pink. The first birthday cake topper had oodles of ribbon and sparkles and was the perfect addition to the cake! The client wanted party favors and thank you’s that coordinated with the party. The favors were bite sized cookies with mint and pink icing made by Sweet Bri’s Bakery. I put them in mini boxes with glitter one’s on top of them. I designed a postcard style thank you that was fun and whimsical incorporating elements from her party invitation. I finished off the table with gold foil balloons that spelled out one and some over sized pink balloons to add a fun touch. Around other parts of the house guests sat at tables with mason jars filled with pink and white roses atop pink linens. Check out some of the details below!
